Brain Dump Page: Reasons Why You Should Have One

/

Looking for a new way to manage your stress and the overwhelmed feelings from the day to day life? Don’t worry. I got you! Today we’ll talk about how incredible the brain dump page in your (bullet) journal is.

Why Do You Need a Brain Dump Page

While for extroverts, hanging out with friends will make the stress go away, that doesn’t always apply to introverts.

A brain dump is one of the best ways that I still to this day, use it when I feel overwhelmed or stressed out.

Here are some other reasons why you should have the brain dump page in your bullet journal:

1. It helps you release the stress

Surprisingly, this always works like magic to me especially when I have so many things going on. While lots of people like to do it right after they wake up in the morning, I prefer to do it before I go to sleep at night.

The main reason is that during the day I’d feel super stressed out and my head was full of so many unnecessary thoughts, so by writing down at the end of the day, I’d feel relief and ready to have a good sleep at night.

2. It helps you understand yourself and your emotions better

Have you ever felt like you’re out of control of your own emotions? Part of it because you might not aware of your own pattern so you’ll end up burst out and feel like you are lack control.

Having a brain dump and literally using it every day can help you recognize and understand yourself better. By writing down all of your thoughts, long enough you can find your way to handle some situations because you are fully aware of how you feel.

3. It makes you more focus on your work/study

When you put your thoughts on a piece of paper, that also means you throw away those unnecessary thoughts in your mind that don’t serve you any good purpose. At the same time, you could save so much energy rather than investing your time in those thoughts.

Therefore, you can focus on things that more important to you. If you focus more on your study/work, there’s a high chance you’ll get better results.

4. It increases your overall happiness

I found it easier to feel happy when I don’t have too much stuff in my head. It feels light and I certainly become more present.

For you to feel happier in life, it’s important that you are aware of things that weigh you down and cut those off. Brain dump page will help you with this because its main purpose is to reduce as many unnecessary thoughts as it can so you won’t feel overwhelmed at the end of the day.

5. It helps you understand & interact with people around you better

Lastly, by doing a brain dump activity in your journal every day it increases your chance to have a better social life. Because let’s be honest, it’s hard to focus and listen to other people’s problems when you yourself aren’t in a good place mentally.

So if you feel like you’ve been caught up with your own world and your relationships with others aren’t getting better, then it’s time to try out the brain dump for you to have more focus.

How to Create a Brain Dump Page

Supplies You Need:

  • Notebook
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Tombow Dual Brush (optional)
  • Washi Tapes (optional)

When it comes to creating it, there are different layout ideas that you may try (which I would include later after this section).

But first, you’ll have to think of which parts you want to focus on. Whether you want to write down your thoughts about your job, family, or relationships.

Once you get used to it, then you can try to play around with the layouts and make them pretty. At the end of the day, what’s important is for you to find it useful and improve your overall life.
